INTERURBAN TROLLEY ACCESS SERVICE INTRODUCES 10-RIDE PUNCH CARD

ELKHART - The Interurban Trolley is introducing a 10-Ride Punch Card for use on the Interurban Trolley Access Service. This service provides public transportation to disabled persons unable to use the Interurban Trolley fixed-route buses. The Interurban Trolley Access Service provides a way for persons whose physical or mental disabilities prevent them from using the Interurban Trolley bus to travel in Elkhart and Goshen. Fully wheelchair accessible, low-floor minivans equipped with side-entry ramps are utilized to provide easy ambulatory access.

These 10-Ride Punch Cards will be available starting on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. The cost of the 10-Ride Punch Card is $20. Riders can purchase punch cards online at www.interurbantrolley.com. Additionally, they can purchase the passes in-person at the following Martin’s Supermarket Stores in Elkhart and Goshen:

  • Martin’s Supermarket at 1200 N Nappanee St in Elkhart
  • Martin’s Supermarket at 120 Sanford School Rd E in Elkhart
  • Martin’s Supermarket at 555 E Jackson Blvd in Elkhart
  • Martin’s Supermarket at 201 Concord Mall Dr. in Elkhart
  • Martin’s Supermarket at 1527 Bashor Rd in Goshen
  • Martin’s Express at 1401 College Ave in Goshen

The 10-Ride Punch Card joins the previously introduced Day, 14 Day, and 31 Day Passes that will be sold at these outlets and online. The Access Service’s cash fare of $2.00 per trip will not change.

James Turnwald, Executive Director of the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG), said “Our office has had numerous requests from riders to have a multi-ride option on the Access Service. We strive to provide reliable, public transportation that is responsive to the needs of the community and our riders. That is why we are pleased to introduce this great new option!”

About the Access Service: The Interurban Trolley Access Service provides trips within a corridor covering 1.5 miles around the fixed route service. Individuals wanting to use the Interurban Trolley Access must apply and be found eligible prior to using the Access service. An application documenting an individual's disability or reasons they are unable to ride the Interurban Trolley bus must be completed and an eligibility determination will be provided within 21 days. Applications can be found online at www.interurbantrolley.com.
